Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people who have been sheltering in place at home are itching to get outside and hit the road. Quite frankly, we can’t blame you. Hardly anything can beat the joy and freedom you feel while on vacation!
Summer is traditionally a busy season for road trips, but we expect a huge number of families to hit the road this month. Before you leave town, here are some helpful tips from your friendly auto mechanics at Cartec Automotive Services in Tulsa.
Get a complimentary maintenance and safety check for free. At our auto repair shop, we are offering a complete maintenance and safety check for free. Our technicians will perform a visual inspection and notify you if we see anything on your vehicle that requires attention, like the refrigerant in your Air Conditioning system. The goal, of course, is to make certain you and your passengers are traveling in a reliable vehicle that will not need the assistance of a tow truck.
Plot your road trip out ahead of time. Because different states have varying regulations managing the Coronavirus, you should make sure what hotels, restaurants, and places of interest are open before you go. It would be awful if you arrived at your destination but you could not book a room overnight, or you could not get food at that restaurant you were hoping to visit. Prepare ahead of time so you run into fewer inconveniences.
Pack facemasks, gloves, hand sanitizer, snacks, and extra water for your trip. Some places of business around the country require you to wear a facemask if you want to enter their building. For your safety and the safety of others, be sure to assemble your COVID-19 travel kit before you go. You don’t want to run the risk of exposure if you don’t have to, right?
Practice social distancing wherever you go. Going to the ocean, to the parks, and to the family reunion are all wonderful destinations. However, you should make a point to keep at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and others. We would be terribly sad to hear that anyone we know and love got sick from COVID-19, so please be extra cautious when around people outside of your household.
Wash your hands frequently. You run the risk of infection when you touch a gas pump handle, push open or close a door, or handle a variety of objects. If you cannot wash your hands after filling up your gas tank, at least have hand sanitizer available in your vehicle.
We hope these tips help make our Summer vacation a little safer, healthier, and help reduce your stress levels while traveling. To take advantage of our complimentary complete maintenance and safety check, schedule an appointment with Cartec Automotive Services. You’ll be glad you did!
